What to expect when visiting our Chiropractor

At your first visit

After taking a complete case history to review important aspects of your health, a thorough examination will be conducted by our Chiropractor to identify any areas of your spine that may be causing problems.

Based on your examination findings, X-rays or other types of diagnostic imaging may be necessary. You will be given a full explanation of your current problem, as well as a specific chiropractic care program based upon your age, condition, lifestyle and unique spinal problems.

The primary course of care will be specific chiropractic adjustments. This involves using carefully directed and controlled pressure to restore better position and motion to “stuck” spinal joints. The technique used will be modified to suit the individual.

Additional procedures may be performed or recommended to help reduce inflammation, provide relief or enhance the healing process. These may include ice, heat, soft tissue rehabilitation, exercise, nutritional advice or other procedures.

Follow-up visits

• Second visit – Report of Findings: During this visit, the chiropractor will advise you as to the cause of your pain/symptoms and the best course of action to remedy this, e.g.: treatment, homework, exercises, and/or nutritional changes as necessary, or he may refer you to your relevant medical practitioner. This visit will also include further treatment/care.
• Subsequent visits to the chiropractor last approximately 15 minutes and consist of a short discussion as to your progress, and the relevant chiropractic treatment.
• Re-evaluation exam: At a point determined at your Report of Findings visit, you will be re-examined to assess your progress. At this time, the chiropractor will establish if you need any further investigations (such as X-rays/ Blood Tests/ Scans) and/or treatment.
• Preventative maintenance: On completing their treatment plan, many of our patients recognise the benefit of a maintenance or “tune-up” appointment at regular intervals. This preventative care is designed to identify small problems and correct them before they become big problems.
